Orphans We've Helped
Handiwork for Orphans has existed with the mission to help bring orphans home forever since Fall 2010. Since then, here are the kids we have helped and how much we've raised for each of them.
ElijahSarah wanted to use her love of crocheting to help bring her little brother home from Ukraine, so started Handiwork for Orphans in Fall 2010 to sell her handmade items to help raise money. But thanks to a wonderful benefit our church held her family had all the funds necessary to bring him home. December 2010, Sarah's family finished the adoption process of Elijah. He is home now and you can visit Sarah's mom's blog here for updates on him- My God is Lord.

Tori (now Reagan) and Anastasia (now Carrington)After Elijah's adoption was fully funded, Sarah changed HFO to Handiwork for Tori. Tori was a little girl from Elijah's orphanage, but got transferred. Soon after Sarah changed it to her, she had a full grant and a family! So Sarah changed HFO to Handiwork for Anastasiya, who is another little girl from Elijah's orphanage. Then Tori's family decided to bring her home too! They are both now home, renamed Reagan and Carrington and you can visit their mama's blog here - Carrington's Crusade.

Eddie (now Gideon)Even though Sergey didn't have a family, Sarah decided to sell for someone else. She realized that there was another angel who needed the money more - Eddie. Sergey has/had a $5000 grant; Eddie had a $0 grant. Eddie was already 4 and has been transferred; Sergey wouldn't be four until next October. Eddie was in Elijah's former grouppa and isn't treated very well (Sarah's mom met him while she was there). Eddie (now Gideon) is now HOME with his new brother, and you can visit his family's blog here - Add to the Beauty.

NoahThen the name changed this blog to Handiwork for Noah. Noah is another little boy from Elijah's former orphanage, and although he did have a family working hard to get him home, they were still are in need of financial help to bring him home. Noah is now home with his family!

JonathanThen Sarah changed this blog to "Handiwork for Jonathan", her newest little brother! We unfortunately didn't sell anything to help bring Jonathan home, but now he is home so we had to change it again! He is home now and you can visit my mom's blog here - My God is Lord.
During Handiwork for Jonathan, Sarah also added the help of her best friend Rachel (who she had taught to crochet), making HFO a partnership! :) CarterIn July 2011 (during Handiwork for Jonathan), our church held a benefit to bring Carter home. We sold our items, but unfortunately, we don't have a total. Carter's is now home and we see him weekly, usually more! Check out his mama's blog here - One Thing I Know For Sure.

LillyAfter Jonathan came home, we changed HFO to Handiwork for Lilly. Lilly is a sweet princess who Rachel had fallen in love with. We fundraised a year and a half for her, making her the child we have fundraised for the longest. We also raised more money for her than all the other previous children combined. We fought for a family for her, and spread her face everywhere, knowing she was likely already transferred, and needed out ASAP. The bad new is her country closed Dec 2012 to American adoptions, and so she is still waiting without a family. The good news is, that when her country reopens, she will have a family working very hard to get her!

CalebIn October 2011 (during Handiwork for Lilly), we sold our items at Caleb's benefit. Caleb was the first child we helped not in Eastern Europe, he's was in China! And now he is home with his family and we see him weekly! You can visit his mama's blog here - Adding Banches.

JimmyIn October 2012 (during Handiwork for Lilly), we sold our items at a benefit our church held for Jimmy. The family working to adopt Jimmy are friends of ours from church. Jimmy is also our first child we've raised money for that's in Africa (more specifically, Ghana). Jimmy's family hopes to get a travel date soon!

OwenIn November 2012, we changed Handwork for Lilly to Handiwork for Lilly and Owen. We were both Reece's Rainbow Angel Tree warriors for them, and couldn't leave Owen out. Owen is in the same region as Lilly, so his country has also closed, but when it reopens, he needs a family!!!

MariaAfter Reece's Rainbow (who holds the children's grants until they have families) closed down the the donation buttons for all the children in Lilly and Owen's country because it was closed, we had to make the the painful decision to change HFO to another child. We chose sweet Maria, a princess who really needs a family of her own! While she is older, she is the still the size of a little girl, and would blossom with the love of a family!!! She is the current child we are raising money for, please see the About Maria to find out more about her!
